Creating a New Product in ACE

Trey Loker Updated by Trey Loker

This is a step-by-step guide to creating a new product in ACE.

  1. Create a spreadsheet to plan out the project.
    1. List the new standards in a column.
    2. Find matching standards. In ELA and math, finding matches with CCSS or TEKS is preferable.
    3. Decide whether or not the old standard will be just a copy or a one-way link.
      1. Only one-way link from CCSS or TEKS!
  2. Create the shell for the product in ACE.
    1. The “Name” is the official sounding name, like “2nd Grade Mathematics (IAS 2023)
      1. Begin the name with the grade level
      2. The subject follows the grade level
      3. The assessment acronym is next to the subject
      4. The standards acronym is in parentheses
      5. The year of implementation is after the standards acronym
    2. The “Display Name” is what teachers and students see in the product.
      1. This should be a shortened version of the name, like “2nd Grade Math.”
    3. Remember to also create the domains.
  3. Open up the Master - Standard window in ACE.
    1. Search for the standard ID # from the old standard
    2. Click the checkbox beside the standard ID #
    3. Click “Copy to Domain”
    4. Type in the domain number
    5. Click on whether or not this will be just a copy or a one-way link
    6. This is very important: UNCHECK THE BOX BEFORE MOVING ON! If you don’t, that ID will still be in the system and will copy every time you copy over more standards!!!
  4. In the new product in ACE, open up each copied-over standard and rename based on the state’s standards.
  5. Add in any new standards that you couldn’t find a match.
  6. Make sure that the current boxes are checked in each standard window.
    1. “Tested Standard” checked only - These standards are assessed by the state, and these questions should appear for student practice.
    2. “Hide From Student Practice” check only - These standards will not appear to students for student practice.
    3. Both boxes unchecked - These standards are not assessed, but there is sufficient and important content available for students to practice
    4. Both boxes checked - Never do this. Ever.
  7. Decide % values for each domain.
    1. If the standards are assessed in the state, go by the % found in the assessment blueprint.
    2. If the standards are not assessed, calculate the percentages based on the size of each domain in your product.
  8. Audit each standard to make sure the questions, worksheets, and videos are aligned to the new standard.
    1. Click the eyeball next to the first question to bring up the question preview.
    2. Scroll through the questions by clicking the “Next” button.
    3. If you want to remove any questions, click the double-square clipboard button.
    4. After auditing, click the “Bulk Remove” button. Click the clipboard button to reveal all of the questions you copied to it, and remove those questions.
    5. CLEAR OUT YOU CLIPBOARD AFTER YOU ARE DONE!!!!
  9. Find and add new questions, worksheets, and videos to standards if they do not meet the following criteria.
    1. The questions do not cover all of the parts of the standard.
    2. There are less than 20 questions that are NOT video or constructive response questions.
    3. There are less than 6 MC questions.
    4. There are less than 75% of the standards without videos.
    5. There are less than 300 total questions (K-2) or 500 total questions (3-12)
