How Do I Create a New Opportunity and Link it to an Existing Contract in Salesforce?

  1. On the account record, hover over Opportunities in the Related List Quick Links section and click New. Select "existing customer" and click Next.
  1. Fill out the required fields in the Opportunity window. Enter a Primary Contact. This is the person to whom the quote will be delivered. Click Save.
  1. In the opportunity record, click New CPQ Quote in the top right corner. In the New CPQ Quote window, enter the Start and End dates and Primary Contact. Click Save.
  1. In the opportunity record, hover over Quotes in the Related List Quick Links section and click Edit Lines.
  2. Once you have built and saved your quote, you need to link your opportunity to the contract you are renewing. Navigate to the account page and click on the Contracts tab. Click on the contract number to open the contract record.
  3. In the Salesforce CPQ Info section, below the renewal checkboxes, add your renewal opportunity. The most recent opportunity you were on should appear in the drop-down menu. Select the opportunity and click Save.
  1. Next, add the contract that is being renewed to the opportunity. On the opportunity record, in the Renewals section, there is a field called “Renewed Contract.” The most recent contract viewed will appear here, and you can add it to the opportunity. Click Save.
