How Do I Create Departmental/Individual Objectives in Paycor?

Our 2022 Organizational Goals:

1) Revenue: Achieve $26 million revenue for 2022 (defined as annual recurring revenue, ARR).

2) Solution: Launch the Progress Learning brand and new platform in Q2.

3) Service: Deliver great service and migrate existing customers to the new platform, beginning in Q3.

4) Organization: Complete the integration of EG and USATP by Q3.

Create your Departmental Objectives
  1. Log into Paycor. Click the menu button. Click People > Performance.
  2. Click Objectives. Click Overview - New Objective. Select the drop-down next to "me" to select your entire department or a single employee.
Use your 2023 operating plan in this folder to create your Paycor objectives and key results.
  1. Using your Department Operating plan as a guide, enter an Outcome.
    Outcomes in Paycor are your Objectives in your operating plans. I want to (objective). Example - Objective: Help employees take advantage of benefits
  1. Click to expand Options (time period, type, privacy, etc.).
  • Select the time period of the Outcome.
    • Select This Cycle for yearly objectives.
    • Select Custom to select a custom time period. I.E. - quarterly objectives.
  • Type: select Departmental. Select your department from the drop-down.
  • Privacy: select Public.
  1. Make the following selections:
  • Owner: Yourself
  • Stakeholder: you do not need to select anything here.
  • Label(s): Select all labels that apply. You can run reports on these labels later.
  1. Input Key Results.
Key Results in Paycor are your Initiatives in your operating plans. I want to ____(objective)____. I can do this by ____(key results)____. Example - Key Results: Get 20% more employees to sign up for 401K contributions
  • Measurement type: Select the appropriate measurement type.
Most sales goals will use "Numeric". Most service/internal goals will use "Complete/Incomplete".
  • Add another Key Result if applicable.
  1. Set an optional email Check-in Reminder.
Skip reminders in Paycor and set one reminder monthly on your Google Calendar.
  • Check the checkbox next to Remind me to check in every week on
  • Select the day of the week that you would like the reminder via email.
  • Click Save objective or Save and create another.

Check-in on your Objectives
Most objectives only need one check in a month.
  1. Click Objectives. Click Overview.
  2. Choose how you would like to view your objectives from the options below.
  3. Click the three dots next to any objective and click Check in. Use Check-Ins to update the progress of your objectives.
  1. View past check-ins on the right. Enter applicable key results and a Check-in message. Click Check in when completed.
  • Key Results: Enter values that have changed since the last check-in.
If you used the "Complete/Incomplete" measurement, toggle it on and off as necessary. For example, if you completed your goal last month and did not this month, set the toggle to "incomplete" and mark the status as "Off Track".
  • Status: Update the status (on track, off track, no status).
  • Check-in Message: Write a qualitative message about what's happened on the objective since the last check-in.

Closing Objectives (Managers Only)
When your department has met the objective, you will close the objective. This usually happens quarterly or yearly.
  1. Click the three dots next to any objective and click Close. Use Check-Ins to update the progress of your objectives.
  2. Enter the following:
    • Key Results: Enter values that have changed since the last check-in.
    • Status: Update the status (on track, off track, no status).
    • Check-in Message: Write a qualitative message of what's happened on the objective since the last check-in.
  3. Click Check-in & Close.
Objectives Overview

The Objectives Overview page is a dashboard view that provides an easy way to:

  • View an overview of your objectives. You can also select other individuals to view their objective overviews.
  • View the status of your objectives (on track, off track, no status). 
  • Manage your objectives, altering how they are displayed either in a grid or in a list view. 
  • View progress and details of objectives by direct reports, peers, manager, or department. 
  • Create a new objective from this page.
