BDR Training Practice - How to Create Opportunities

Before Creating an Opportunity Record

  1. In Quick Call, search and open the following account account record:
  • State: Georgia
  • School: The Porter School

Create the Opportunity Record

  1. Ensure the Parent Account is Sample Training District. On the account record, click the drop-down and click Create New Opportunity.
  1. Complete the required fields and click Save.
  • Opportunity Name Account Name + the Close Date (you can enter anything here, once you click save, the Opportunity Name will default)
  • Primary Contact - Haley Test
  • Close Date - 3/10/2023
  • Stage - select Staging
  • Demo Booked By - BDR name
  • Demo Date - 12/10/2022
  1. After saving, click the quick link in the green box or In the Related List Quick Links section, hover over Opportunities, and click the opportunity name of the record you created.
  1. Click the icon next to Opportunity Owner. Update the owner to Haley Harper. Check the Send notification email checkbox. Click Change Owner.
  1. In the activity section, add any applicable pre-demo notes for the AE. Click Save.
  • Subject: Sent Email
  • Activity Type: Demo Notes
  • Comments: Completed my activity!

Reschedule Demos

  1. In Salesforce, Open the opportunity record. (Search for the opportunity or find it in the Opportunities tab)
  2. Check the pencil next to the Demo Status Field and select Reschedule.
  3. Check the pencil next to the Demo Date Field and select the new Demo Date.
  4. Check the pencil next to the Close Date Field and update the Close Date to three months after the rescheduled demo date.
  5. Click Save.

Notes:
  • If multiple schools show up on one demo - create multiple opportunities. One under each school account record.
  • If school demos lead to a district opportunity, the AE or BDR fills out the “Demo booked by” and “Demo date” so BDR gets the credit. The demo date should be the date of transition.
