Add Member to a Group

  1. Sign in to Google Groups.
  2. Click My Groups from the side menu.
  3. Click the Add Members icon next to the group you would like to add the member to.
  4. Enter the email addresses of the people to invite.
  5. To add a welcome message to the email notification for new members, enter a message.
  6. Click Add members. The members are added to the group, even if their names don't appear on the group member list immediately.
If you try to add a user to a group and get an error message saying that their email address is the primary, secondary, or alternate address of an existing member, that user is already a group member.

Remove Member from a Group

  1. Sign in to Google Groups.
  2. Click My Groups from the side menu.
  3. Select the group you wish to manage and click Members from the left side menu.
  4. From the sortable list of members, point to the member, and check the box next to their name. (hover over their name for the box to appear).
  5. Click the Remove member icon.

Manage Group Roles

When you add people to groups directly, you can assign them the member, manager, or owner role.

an owner can:

  • Add/remove members
  • Delete a group
  • Make another group member an owner
  • Change another owner’s settings
  • Change group settings

Manager

a manager can:

  • Add/remove members
  • Change group settings

Members

By default, group members have basic permissions. Depending on the organization and group settings, these permissions might include viewing and posting to conversations and viewing members. Group owners and managers can add to or limit members’ permissions. Any permissions that are set for the member role are automatically given to managers and owners.

  1. Select the group you wish to manage and near the top right, click Members.
  2. Find the member and in the Role column, select the desired role from the drop-down.
